BigAir has expanded its iBurst customer base with the acquisition of customers from T3 Wireless.
The deal will see the wireless access provider pick up about 800 new iBurst customers from T3 Wireless, a subsidiary of Pacific Internet.
The figure takes BigAir's iBurst customer base to 8500, Jason Ashton BigAir CEO, said.
The move was expected to see an "ongoing margin improvement" in the providers revenues via an expanded customer base, he said.
As part of the agreement, T3 Wireless will also assist BigAir with the migration of its existing iBurst retail channel agreements across to the ISP, Ashton said.
“This acquisition also gives us the opportunity to expand out retail distribution channel," he said. "We are already in negotiations with T3 channel partners to replace T3’s iBurst with our product.”
The iBurst is owned and operated by Personal Broadband Australia and delivers wireless internet access to notebook computers.
Denis Muscat managing director, Pacific Internet said it decided to sell T3's customers because it didn't fit in the its own customer base.
"We looked at the customers we acquired and found they were residential users. We are focusing Pacific Internet's iBurst product more at our business customers," he said.
"This was not a part of any plan to eventually stop distributing the iBurst product".
