This latest departure comes only a few of days after the resignation of Cellnet managing director, Adam Davenport.
Reg Claris, chairman of the Cellnet board, confirmed the Bicknell’s resignation although he couldn’t state the reasons behind Bicknell’s decision to leave.
“Martin handed in his resignation of Monday afternoon. Mark Bloomfield [new Cellnet MD] did the interview and called me up to say Martin had tendered his resignation,” he said.
Bicknell replaced Daryl Tucker as GM of sales in late 2006. In an an internal staff memo viewed by CRN, Davenport said, “Martin Bicknell, the former general manager of Loop Technology, will start as the replacement GM sales on 9 October”.
At the time Tucker said he had been given notice of the board's intention to retrench him only yesterday.
“Adam Davenport and the board gave me the notice and I didn’t put up much of fight,” he said. “After eleven years with [IT Wholesale] I felt it was the right time to move on.”
Tucker couldn’t give a specific reason for the retrenchment and said he had not had time to “speak directly with Davenport or the board” about the matter.
When questioned by CRN Davenport denied retrenching Tucker and said he left of his own accord.
