Dear Rabid,
The other day a customer came in to buy a PC and insisted he wanted a Japanese made PC not one made elsewhere in Asia. I ordered in one from a well-known Japanese vendor and he left with a smile, and so did I as those things cost a bit more than clones.
Three days later he was back, cursing and swearing, accusing me of false advertising and any number of other things he could think of, and said he was going to the trade practices commission and the ombudsman etc, you get the picture.
He'd bought some extra memory, which required him to lift the cover, and to his disdain saw all these integrated circuits with "Made in Taiwan" and "Made in Korea" printed on them. I offered him a refund but he won't accept it -- he's demanding I replace it with an all Japanese PC. What can I do to get out of this?
Yours hopefully, Wit's End
Dear Wit's End,
Explain to him that Korea and Taiwan are suburbs of Tokyo.
