There's been much noise about software as a service these days and now WebCentral has stepped into the market, competing with the likes of Salesforce.com.
Is there anything in this for the humble reseller?
Sure you can score a few credits for pointing the punters in the direction of these hosts with the most but isn’t there some way to keep your customer all to yourself?
Very few businesses will be using SaaS for everything, so you’re still going to want them calling for upgrades on the basics. How about an SaaS offering which lets the customer trial the software for a couple of months, then if they decide it fits and they want to buy, arrange a backup and transfer of all their data to their own server or PC?
Unless, of course, they like the whole SaaS thing, in which case, is there any point setting up your own server to try and muscle-in at the entry level? Why not offer it direct to your own clients, instead of outsourcing it to the big guys?
Are you being served?
