So the ACCC finally found someone to take to court, and it was the distie of Topfield PVRs which copped the hiding.
Of all the rip-offs in this land, the ACCC chose to save consumers from being ripped off when buying a PVR. And, since the offenders ceased offending in 2005, who was the ACCC really protecting?
Only those serisously well-heeled early adopters of PVRs. The rest of us are still waiting for the things to drop below $500.
And how did this action help all those poor rich people who paid too much for their Topfield?
Not at all, since the distie copped the fine and nobody has suggested a refund to the consumers.
What is the point of an ACCC action which takes years to come to fruition and doesn't recompense those who got diddled?
All things must pass
