New entrant to the Australian market, Peribit Networks updated its WAN optimisation appliance lineup and was in the throes of beefing up its local channel.
Peribit - which is headquartered in the US - landed here in February and had already captured 40 customers, equating to around $2.5 million in sales revenue.
The company's appliances are claimed to improve WAN performance by prioritising network traffic, reducing repetitive data patterns and speeding application-response times.
As a result, customers can hold off on circuit and hardware upgrades, often seeing a return on their investments within several months.
Peribit's new Sequence Mirror family of caching and compression appliances support Network Sequence Mirroring, its new technology for recognising data patterns and reducing traffic that must be retransmitted over WAN links.
Michael Paul, the Melbourne-based regional manager, South Pacific at Peribit, said since setting up here in February, the company had signed Allied in
Canberra, Global Net and Net Solutions as channel partners.
'There will be a couple more that we will bring on board - we'll sign up one or two large integrators,' he said. 'We haven't sold anything here in Australia that hasn't gone through a channel,' he said.
The company was also in discussions with distributors with a view to sign one wholesale partner here, he said.
'We don't necessarily want to give access [to the products] to anybody,' said Paul. 'We're not interested in box droppers,' he added.
New products announced include the SM-500, which features dual 250GB hard drives and supports circuits from 256Kb/s to 20Mb/s. It is slated to ship in August at a starting price of US$9000. Local pricing was not available.
Peribit also is expanding its Sequence Reducer optimisation appliance line with the SR-100, designed to support high-speed connectivity between data centres.
The product starts at US$24,000, it supports compressed output at OC-3 fibre-optic transmission speeds.
In addition, Peribit is introducing version 5.0 of its Sequence Reduction System software and PeriSphere, its new architecture for integrating compression, sequence caching, latency reduction, bandwidth management path optimisation and visibility tools into its hardware and software.
