Oracle has issued an update to its Coherence in-memory data grid software.
The company said that the newest version of Coherence would support higher memory capacities and allow for better application performance.
Offered as part of Oracle's Fusion Middleware package, the data grid tool allows web servers to manage data which is being stored in memory. The tool is primarily used for web applications with heavy user loads.
For the latest version of Coherence will support total memory grids of up to 1TB, allowing for gigher memory capacities within systems. The update will also add a new 'Guardian' feature to better detect and manage possible service disruptions.
To boost performance, the company added better integration with its WebLogic Server and WebLogic Portal offerings, as well as faster performance for the web session management model.
Oracle hopes that the improvements will allow the Coherence software to run web applications faster and more reliably.
"Oracle Coherence continues to deliver on the promise of easier scalability, predictability in performance, and simplified operation," said Oracle vice president of development Cameron Purdy.
"The Coherence tera-scale capability enables applications to work with massive data sets in-memory, while simultaneously simplifying the infrastructure of the data grid."
