National reseller and integrator ComputerCORP has added another string to its bow, signing a deal to resell notebooks, LCD monitors and projectors made by Taiwanese giant BenQ.
Western Australia-headquartered ComputerCORP is BenQ’s first national value-added reseller.
Dee Broadmore, strategic marketing manager at ComputerCORP, said BenQ offered a Tier 1 product at Tier 2 pricing. “Sometimes it comes down to price. The customer doesn’t want to pay Tier 1 pricing.
“[BenQ] can make it cheaper because they are the manufacturer,” Broadmore said.
The reseller also represented HP, IBM and Toshiba and had in the last few years opened offices in NSW, Victoria and Queensland.
ComputerCORP managing director Hugh Smith said the partnership was a fit and would help the reseller mitigate risk. “ComputerCORP’s main focus is to offer its customers a choice on new and emerging technologies.
“The East Coast operations [of ComputerCORP] are not as mature as [those of] the competition and we are, in some cases, locked out of customer negotiations. This new partnership will give us an advantage,” he said.
Broadmore added that, in NSW, QLD and VIC – relatively new markets for the reseller – there were a lot of well established resellers that already had relationships with in-state vendors. “The more we have to offer, the less likely we are to be locked out [on contracts],” she said.
ComputerCORP would hit the corporate, government and education markets with the BenQ brand.
BenQ's national sales manager for corporate and government business, James Wright, was not available for comment but said in a statement: “ComputerCORP has been growing rapidly in the last two years, and they are leading the way with aggressive sales in the IT industry."
