LG unveils three-way sync phone

LG Electronics has unveiled the LG Mini, which it claims is the first to offer a three-way synchronisation service between a PC, the user's web history and the phone itself.

The handset, shown off at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, allows users to wirelessly synchronise content such as calendar, phone book and contacts, photos and video clips between the device and a PC using LG's newly developed Air Sync technology.

LG said that Air Sync offers what the company believes is the first form of cloud computing for smartphones.

Skott Ahn, chief executive of LG Electronics, explained that Air Sync had been developed to meet a growing requirement among users to synchronise information across multiple platforms.

"With data and content scattered all over the place, future mobile markets are likely to focus on data management and seamless access among devices. We have developed the LG Mini and the new LG Air Sync in response to this trend," he said.

The company also explained that the phone can keep track of a user's internet history on a PC which can then be updated on the phone's browser with the last 100 web sites visited to allow for faster and more streamlined web browsing on the move.

The LG Mini also offers a High Speed Packet Access speed of 7.2 Mbit/s.
