The program uses six steps to walk a business through the transition phase to cloud-based computing.
It takes the user through the initial evaluation and cost planning, to deployment and on-going management of its web-based computing environment.
According to Craig Deveson, managing director of Devnet, the program can be customised to suit the user's individual requirements and enable them to take cloud computing at their own pace.
"Even though cloud-based computing is cheaper and easier to depkoy and manage, the reality is businesses have significant legacy, desktop-based infrastructure which require a planned, staged migration and that's why we developed Cloud Ready," he said.
Devnet will release an SME version of the program, for companies with less than 100 users, in the near future.
"Devnet's Cloud Ready program has been designed so that businesses with 100 users or more, can cost-effectively and rapidly evaluate whether cloud computing makes sense for them right now, and then understand the transition process to this new, more cost-effective computing model," he added.
The six-steps are;
COMPARE: Compare your current environment with a functionally equivalent cloud-based model. Is there a compelling reason to move? What are the costs of ownership and can a transition be justified.
EVALUATE: Create a proof-of-concept trial that allows for a practical evaluation of functionality and manageability.
BUILD: Build a cloud-based solution based on the customer's requirements.
ENGAGE: Investigate the business structures and culture and develop a change management program ensuring staff are educated.
DEPLOY: Migrate away from legacy applications and deploy new solutions to users.
MANAGE: Establish on-going cost-effective management process.
