Canberra partner Veritec tapped to run Microsoft's government "modernisation factory

Canberra-based Veritec has been awarded a contract by Microsoft to operate its modernisation factory for government and critical infrastructure providers in Australia.

The Microsoft partner will establish the factory and gain access to the vendor’s standardised IP and methodologies, with the aim of providing services to update and future-proof legacy IT workloads.

As part of the contract, Veritec will deploy a production line, featuring fixed price and highly repetitive processes for validation and design of Azure infrastructure.

“We are delighted to partner with Microsoft Consulting Services and to have been selected as the Azure migration partner for government in handling these workload modernisation activities,” Veritec general manager Marty Holden said.

“We also look forward to working with the Microsoft global delivery team using their proven methodologies to modernise our joint customers’ applications using Microsoft tools, processes and IP.”

The factory will at first focus on modernising operating systems, databases and application workloads running on a Microsoft platform, as well as migrating supported workloads into the Microsoft Azure cloud, with more services slated to come online in the near future.

Veritec said it was chosen for its security cleared resources, a strong Microsoft partnership, Microsoft-certified staff and technical skills.

“Technology analyst Gartner has forecast that investment in public cloud services will surge by 18.5 percent in Australia this year.
