Managed service providers will be able to manage IT infrastructure for SMB clients via a single dashboard, thanks to AVG.
The platform will be based on LPI Level Platforms' agentless architecture and will provide unified management of a SMBs entire IT infrastructure, including devices, applications, networks and the cloud.
AVG managing director for ANZ, Peter Cameron, told CRN that the security vendor would offer the platform to managed service providers (MSPs) at a monthly wholesale subscription rate. MSPs can then determine the annual or monthly subscription they will charge their SMB customers.
AVG currently offers a remote desktop management solution known as CloudCare to SMBs; however, the acquisition of LPI Level Platform in June 2013 equipped the company with the capabilities to deliver versatile cloud-based, cross-platform services.
The company has rebranded LPI Level Platforms as AVG Managed Workplace and it expects the new MSP platform to be launched in three months.
Yesterday the company took the first step in integrating its existing IT management solution, AVG CloudCare, within its managed services solution, AVG Managed WorkPlace.
General manager of AVG ANZ, Sam Hendry, said this first integrated service "takes us a step closer towards realising our vision of fully combining the AVG CloudCare and AVG Managed WorkPlace".
AVG's Managed Workplace can be easily integrated with other solutions, such as Autotask and ConnectWise.
"One of the advantages of having an agentless architecture is we play really nice at a network level," Michael McKinnon, AVG's security advisor, told CRN.
Managed Workplace is currently only compatible with Windows PCs. The company anticipates its acquisition will equip it with the technology to manage fleets of devices.
"One of the key strategies is interacting with mobile devices," Cameron told CRN.
As more services are integrated into Managed Workplace, AVG will put into place a "seamless" upgrade path that will help its existing CloudCare base migrate across. Cameron told CRN thousands of devices currently interact with CloudCare.
