We speak to managing director Biagio La Rosa.
What unified communication brands and services do you specialise in?
Our core business is centred around the Microsoft UC stack – we’ve been the largest Skype for Business integrator in APAC for a number of years – and that’s evolving now to encompass Microsoft Teams.
When did your company first get involved in this area?
Generation-e started in 2004. In those days we were focused on IP telephony with 3Com products. We started partnering with Microsoft in UC in 2008.
What certifications and credentials do you have that apply to UC and collaboration?
All of our consultants are tertiary qualified either in computer science or communications engineering. As a company we’re Gold-accredited for Microsoft, Polycom, Crestron, Exterity and Enghouse.
Who are your distribution partners for UC?
Our primary relationships are with Synnex, Arrow, Westcon-Comstor and Ingram Micro, but for the combination of UC and AV solutions we offer, we have more than 100 commercial relationships.
Have you heard about any interesting development in the enterprise UC space recently?
All the buzz in the industry at the moment is Microsoft Teams, and that’s really flying. Personally, however, I think the integration of AV with UC is the most interesting, because it can have the most positive impact on organisations. There’s a range of really interesting AV solutions from Logitech, Polycom and Crestron.
Can you tell us about a recent UC deployment you have done?
We’ve just moved thousands of users from a legacy voice environment to UC in a professional services company. It’s really improved communication for both staff and customers.
What is driving customers’ collaboration projects?
Vendors often talk about digital transformation, but that’s been happening for a long time.
I think the main driver is the realisation among customers that people want to work in places and at times that suit them. So, customers need to go to UC to support the ways people want to work and enabling staff to get the most out of them.
Unified communications and collaboration is …
Becoming pervasive across all industries. We’re at a stage where if you don’t have the technologies to enable your people to collaborate, the competitive advantage of your company is going to be impacted.
