Tecala won the Customer Experience Award at the 2025 techpartner.news Impact Awards 2025 for automating the quote generation process for fintech IQumulate.
The initiative – known as Project 350 – enabled IQumulate to deliver faster, more responsive service to brokers and prospective customers.
IQumulate provides funding solutions for individuals and businesses that don’t want to pay their insurance premiums upfront.
Tecala’s relationship with the company began by way of a referral from Nintex, a key Tecala partner since 2018. After assisting IQumulate with another project, Tecala was invited to act as the delivery partner on Project 350.
Commencing in August 2024, a three-strong Tecala project team worked with IQumulate to automate its loan validation process. The result was significant improvements in operational efficiency, with reduced processing errors, lower costs and a drop in average response time from several hours to under a minute.
As part of the business case, Tecala identified that 15,300 quotes were being generated manually each year. The company’s goal was to automate 50% of this volume equating to 7,650 quotes.
Tecala estimated an average time saving of five minutes per quote, which translates to a total of 38,250 minutes, or approximately 637.5 hours. This equates to 85 business days, or 17 working weeks saved annually.
Since going live on 1 February this year, the company has already processed 2,856 quotes through Project 350, with actual time savings averaging closer to seven minutes per quote.
Delivered with just 240 hours of Tecala consultancy time, the new solution has meant quote requests have now been processed in an average of under 60 seconds.
The time saved so far is equivalent to 31 working days and the projected savings will mean a 100% return on investment within six months.
Eliminating a large volume of repetitive manual work has enabled IQumulate to contain the headcount in its Manila administration centre while continuing to expand its operations and reach. Administration staff are able to spend more time on high value tasks, including nurturing relationships with customers and brokers.
IQumulate is also better placed to win business from customers and brokers, courtesy of its ability to expedite the process of delivering the insurance solutions they’re seeking.
Technology from Nintex and Microsoft was used to enhance the IQEdge portal – the inhouse quoting platform IQumulate use to generate quotes for customers.
The solution developed by Tecala was built on Microsoft SQL Server and the Nintex K2 Cloud. The former provides data storage and querying capability, and the latter delivers a workflow platform and smart data validation.
Microsoft Azure AI Document Intelligence was also deployed to extract and verify important loan information, including the applicant’s business details and the particulars of other insurance funding arrangements they may have in place.
Australia and New Zealand have stringent regulatory frameworks governing their finance and lending industries and the requirement to embed regulatory compliance enforcement processes within the loan application process added complexity to the project.
Follow-up projects between the two companies include the fortification of IQumulate’s loan management system with an additional security layer; and the enhancement of its web site functionality.
“When you have a relationship that is built on the level of honesty, trust and confidence that we have with Tecala, the sky really is the limit, said Wai-Lum Tang, Head of Information Technology at IQumulate
"At Tecala, we believe that great partnerships drive great outcomes," said Shaun Leisegang, General Manager – Automation, Data and AI at Tecala.
Project 350 is a powerful demonstration of how automation, when aligned with business strategy, can deliver measurable impact. Working alongside IQumulate, we didn’t just implement technology — we co-designed a scalable, future-ready platform that enables faster decisions, stronger compliance, and better customer experiences.
"This project reflects our commitment to delivering with precision, challenging the status quo, and going beyond expectations to help our clients thrive.”
"The IQumulate project is a powerful example of how Tecala leverages the Nintex platform to deliver intelligent automation solutions that go beyond expectations," said Steve Barkla, Director of APAC Partners & Alliances at Nintex.
"Their deep understanding of customer needs, combined with their ability to execute at pace and scale, resulted in a transformative outcome for IQumulate—streamlining operations, improving compliance, and ultimately enhancing the customer experience. It’s a pleasure to see partners like Tecala push the boundaries of what’s possible with Nintex.”
